As we travel through life we make connections with certain groups of people who help us understand ourselves and create our own identity. Ex-military people, members of a church, small communities, where you grew up…all help us to be unique. In fact I believe that most people want a group to connect with and be part of in their lives.
A couple of days ago I believe we made an important connection with a group like this which will help to carry us to the end of our lives here on earth.
We decided to go into the nearby town of Maryville , TN to check it out and get some groceries. We went to a large Kroger store in the middle of the day on a Wednesday. We noticed that the parking lot was very full and when we got into the store it looked like the day before Thanksgiving. The aisles were crowded and people were everywhere. We started to notice that almost everyone was older and probably retired but didn’t think much about it.
When we got to the checkout the young lady said “You all aren’t 60 are you?” and we said yes actually we were. She said that their Kroger gives an extra 5% off to senior citizens on the first Wednesday of the month. At that moment I had an epiphany….I had found “My People”.
