blue

When a person says they have the “Blues” it usually means they are feeling melancholy. This is usually a gloomy state of mind…especially when you are experiencing habitual or prolonged depression.

I have a love-hate relationship with Blues.

My first “Blue”….the Indianapolis Colts…was the first football team that I lived near that knew how to win. Over the last few years I have found myself more and more excited about how they are doing. When they lost….I felt bad. When they won….I felt good. Well this year they have not won a single football game so…you guessed it….I’m a little depressed about it. You could even say “Blue”.

Take my second favorite “Blue” – the University of Michigan. I’ve always enjoyed their football program with the best record, biggest stadium, great coaches and rivalry with Ohio. For the last 7 years I have been really Blue about Michigan because they seemed to have lost their way. I have had to endure the shame of admitting defeat to all the Ohio fans. However yesterday Michigan beat Ohio and it looks like they are back and the program is healthy.

Go Blue.
