Road Gators

Road Gators – according to the Urban Dictionary road gators are bits of truck tires left when a retread tire shreds on the Interstate. They are named that because the tire treads look like an alligator’s back.

Here in South Carolina they call driving around them “Highway Gator Wrestling“. It is a real issue when you drive a big rig like our 5th wheel and truck. There is no way you can avoid them on a moment’s notice so I would definitely rate this as a true road hazard.

Other hazards that can drive you crazy include wide loads on narrow highways that weave across lanes, construction zones with cement barriers that run for miles and force me to drive with about 2 inches of clearance…..and the big one…..FUEL PRICES.
