LOGISTICS – the management of the flow of goods between the point of origin and the point of destination in order to meet the requirements of customers or corporations. Logistics involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, and packaging, and often security. (Wikipedia)
You’ve seen the commercials for UPS telling us how much they “LOVE LOGISTICS”. I live with the person who wrote the commercials for UPS.
In November Mary was contacted to make a cake for a New Year’s Eve wedding for friends in the community we had lived in for the last 16 years.
So here were the logistical challenges…. we were camped in Tennessee outside of the Smokies and we were going back to Indianapolis for Christmas but would be traveling back to our RV prior to the deadline of New Year’s Eve. What to do?
Mary coordinated it so that she baked the cake at our son and daughter-in-law’s home near Indianapolis. The cake layers were decorated, wrapped and transported to the mother of the groom with detailed instructions how to freeze, thaw, assemble, finish decorating and serve.
We returned to Tennessee before the wedding but heard later that all went well. Apparently weddings can still take place in our home town even if the Cake Lady is on the road.
