Blacktop Evacuation

Today was the day that the village of Berrien Springs decided to put the final blacktop surface on the road in our section of the campground. The manager had warned us we should park our cars somewhere else. So last night we moved our Scion across the street and went to bed waiting for the A-Team (Asphalt team).

At 7:00am this morning they rewarded us with their presence.

It is truly amazing how fast they can pave a road once the trucks start rolling. This morning was no exception as they pushed around the park with great efficiency. We decided to bail out of here and do some garage sales, go downtown and then go to the beach.

We walked around downtown St. Joe and also checked out a Benton Harbor beach that looked awesome. We ate lunch at a little sandwich shop called Ricky’s in Stevensville and then spent a couple of hours at a township beach (no-cost beach).

When we returned the blacktop crew had finished but folks were still parking on the grass.
