A decoy is usually a person, device or event meant as a distraction, to conceal what an individual or a group might be looking for. Decoys have been used for centuries most notably in game hunting, but also in wartime and in the committing or resolving of crimes. – Wikipedia

When we first arrived at our campground we noticed some wooden cutouts of dogs located around the campground. We weren’t sure what they were for.

Apparently the cutouts are here to scare the geese that gather around the river. We noticed there are no geese walking around the campground even though it is all open space.

Apparently the decoys are working.
