“Thank You For Being A Friend” is a song written by Andrew Gold, who recorded it for his third album, All This and Heaven Too. The single version reached number 25 on the BillboardHot 100 chart in 1978.
The last few months Mary has been part of some wedding planning for the daughter of our good friends, Bill and Laura, in our old neighborhood in Indiana. Ellie was being married in Ecuador. Laura and Mary worked on designing and sewing the wedding dress over the couple of months we were camped in Anderson, IN. Logistics, logistics!
It was fun helping each other out and spending time together.
We stayed at their house during Labor Day weekend – traveling from there to visit family. Labor Day weekend is marked by town-wide garage sales so we got to visit with many of our friends and neighbors.
As thanks for helping with the wedding….our hosts took us to a Jon Mclaughlin concert at Conner Prairie, just north of Indianapolis. It is a great outdoor venue. All day numerous storms passed through the area from hurricane Isaac – we thought the concert would be rained out. Surprisingly the rain held off and we heard a great concert.
I had a chance to visit with my friend Dave, who is recovering from a heart attack. I went with him to his out-patient therapy…signed a consent form…and worked out on a treadmill right next to him at the hospital. It was great to hear how God worked in his life during this time.
On our way out of town we stopped at the local Cracker Barrel and had breakfast with more good friends – Ian and Sherri. It was a great time to get caught up.
Great weekend and just needed to say “Thank You For Being a Friend”
