Gulf Shores, Alabama
With a population of about 10,000 this little coastal community is rapidly growing and has almost doubled in the last 10 years. Today we drove 90 minutes south and moved our RV from Pensacola to a campground about 2 miles from the beach in beautiful Gulf Shores.
Mary’s brother and wife (Dan and Jo) are here in another campground to enjoy a little bit of warm weather. We all went out to dinner tonight to celebrate Dan’s birthday. The main streets were busy with cars and generally bustling with business. The campground we are in has 170 sites and is full for the next couple of months…and there are campgrounds all over the area. We plan on staying here until at least April and hope to enjoy the miles of bike paths and beaches.
Our camp site has a tree on it and our 5th wheel is big, so backing it into the spot became quite a community effort. Guys came out of their RV’s to move cars and generally help Art navigate the passage.
We are settled in – but the tree is blocking our roof-top satellite. Tomorrow we will be breaking out our portable dish and getting it set up.
