Fairhope —- Revisited

Today was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and temps in the mid-70’s. We took a drive back to Fairhope, Alabama to see the town when there is no festival going on. We knew there was a nice beach on Mobile Bay and a community pier in a park along the coast.

We arrived about lunch time and observed how crowded the central district of the town was with cars. It reminded us of some of the coastal tourist towns on Lake Michigan where it is very difficult to find a parking place.

We worked our way through the crowds and drove to the community park and fishing pier. They had a beautiful fountain with lots of flowers…plus the long fishing pier. We enjoyed walking around and then went back into town for lunch.

We looked at Yelp and found “The Gumbo Shack” was highly rated and had been on the Triple-D show (Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) so we thought we would check it out. Mary had some of their famous Gumbo and Art had a bowl of Jambalaya. They were both pretty spicy and had us asking for seconds on our water.

We snapped some “Flat Abby” pics and then worked our way back home. We will be leaving here on Tuesday. We really enjoyed one of our last outings.
