This is going to be our new home at the end of August. We wanted to be in a neighborhood where we could walk to restaurants and coffee shops, community venues for concerts and other outdoor events. We’ve never lived in such a highly developed urban area but hope to take advantage of the extremely easy access to all that Indianapolis has to offer. The town of Fishers has experienced extreme growth in all aspects and everywhere you go it seems there are young families roaming the streets.
The town has received many accolades during the last few years including:– In 2011, Fishers was named the number one city for families by The Learning Channel – Selected as a Green Community by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns – The town was named the safest city in the nation in 2011, and again in 2012 – In 2010, Fishers was ranked eighth in the best places to live according to Money magazine – America’s best affordable suburb by BusinessWeek – The eleventh best place to move in the country by Forbes – Fishers was also ranked the 24th best place to live in America by Money magazine in 2005, 33rd in 2006, 10th in 2008, and 12th in 2012.
The community is transitioning from a town to a city and has identified 4 districts in their original downtown area that include a Technology District, Nickel Plate District, the Village District and the Prairie District. Our home will be in the Village District where they plan to spend millions to make the area more appealing to pedestrian traffic and access to all the new development.
We plan on walking and enjoying the new downtown area as it develops and morphs into their vision of the future.
We dreamed on buying this kind of retirement home one day…but thought it would be 10-15 years from now. Things have a way of not always turning out like you planned.
